A Message From Our Clinical Director…
Beachside Rehab is a private, drug and alcohol abuse treatment facility located on Hutchinson Island, Florida. We take a holistic approach to treatment, while also supporting the proven 12-step program and SMART Recovery.
The center’s philosophy is built upon the belief that chemical dependency is a chronic, progressive, and fatal illness if untreated. The problem is pervasive and affects not only the identified dependent individual, but those who are in any type of intimate relationship with the individual (i.e. family members, spouse, employees, etc.). Chemical dependency places enormous strain on the family systems and places all members in jeopardy. It is Beachside Rehab’s philosophy that the problem is diagnosable and treatable. It is further believed that not only the identified chemically dependent individual is in need of treatment, but whenever possible, the entire family system is also in need of treatment.
We believe that “addicts” and those who love them have been wrongfully associated with a negative stigma. While the effects of addiction are undoubtedly negative, it is not the actual person or a personality flaw that should be stigmatized as being negative, but rather a coping skill that resulted in a negative outcome.
Usually people do not strive to become addicted, but rather get engulfed by the pull of the temporary relief substances provide. Addiction can happen fast and it does not discriminate, or only affect a certain type of person. It affects mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, from teenagers and veterans to CEO’s and doctors. It is rampant throughout today’s society.
We utilize mind, body, and spiritual elements to provide an enhanced recovery program for each individual. We understand that every person is faced with unique circumstances and that one program does not fit all. For this reason, we work hard to provide the specialized treatment that every patient deserves.
Beachside Rehab Programs
We offer 3 Levels of Care: PHP, IOP, & OP. PHP provides at least 5 clinical hours per day, 7 days a week. IOP & OP provides 3 clinical hours per day, 5 days per week. Each LOC provides one individual session with their Licensed Primary Therapist per week. Group Therapy sessions are provided by the same Licensed Primary Therapists, so clients are able to have daily contact with their Primary Therapist. Although we recognize the importance of individual therapy, it has been proven that group therapy is the best therapeutic approach to recovery.
We have a variety of clinical staff with different substance abuse & mental health focused degrees & licensure. These include: Licensed Psychologist (PhD), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Master-Level Certified Addiction Professionals (MCAP), Certified Psychodramatist, International Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ICADC), and Certified EMDR Therapists.
Individual & Group Therapy
We combine both individual & group into a client’s daily schedule in order to give clients the best possible outcome.
Group Therapy is based on a 4-5 week program. Each week has a different overall recovery goal and the groups that are provided that week correspond with that goal. Weeks include “Recovery & Relapse Prevention”, “Identity & Purpose”, “Cognitions & Communication”, and “Depression, Depressants, and Dependents”.
Some of our groups are: SAMHSA’s Anger Management Program, Addiction & Relationships, Artistic Expression, Anxiety & Impulse Control, Caseload, Cinematherapy, Co-Occurring Mental Health, Communication Styles, Conflict Resolution, Disease Vs. Choice, Drugs & The Human Body, Experiential (Relapse Mindfield, The Web), Family Dynamics, Gender, Greif & Loss, HIV/STD Education, Matrix Model of Recovery, Medication Education, Morning Mindfulness MCBT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Music & Addiction, Narrative Therapy, Nutrition Education, Psychotherapy, Recovery & Reflection, Recovery Celebration, R.O.P.E.S., Self-Esteem & Identity, Stages of Change, SMART Recovery, Detox & Substance Abuse Education.
In addition to Individual & Group Therapy, we also provide weekly Family Therapy sessions when appropriate. We believe that the entire family is affected by addiction, not just the addicted. Incorporating families into a clients treatment greatly reduces their risk of relapse. We currently provide face-to-face (local) and telephonic (out of state) sessions. We are in the process of finalizing our monthly family weekend program where families will be incorporated into a clients treatment and receive individual & group therapy, as well as, the ability to participate in some holistic modalities & develop relationships with other families who have been affected by addiction.
Treatment Based on Holistic Modalities
The Beachside luxury rehab program is based on holistic modalities so every client that comes to Beachside can discover for themselves what treatment best helps them get sober & sustain sobriety. These holistic modalities help clients feel better about themselves and empower them to continue their overall health after treatment . Some of the modalities that are incorporated into our program are: Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Chiropractic, Biosound Therapy, Meditation, Yoga, Psychodrama, Artistic Expression, Labyrinth Walk, Legends of Xscape, Jupiter Lighthouse, Field Days, Talent Shows, Recovery Month Events (September), Holiday-inspired Client/Staff Events, SMART Recovery, In-house AA, and Speakers. *Note: We have been in the process of adding an NA group on Thursday nights which should be staring soon*
We also offer Therapeutic Recreational Activities every weekday after clinical groups from 2:30-5pm. This aspect of our program is to help clients see that recovery is not boring! It gives them the chance to laugh, have fun, and be physically active. Clients chose daily which activity they would like to participate in. These activities include: CrossFit, Going to the Beach (swimming, walking, or sun bathing), Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Equine-Based Therapy on the Beach, Relaxing in the Serenity Room, Movie Club (Thursdays), Nail Salon, and Hair Cuts.
Additional Medical Care
Although we are a primary substance abuse treatment center and are not required to have medical care, we feel that adding this element enhances a clients ability to get sober, have less anxiety, and experience total body (holistic) health. Every client receives the following: Psychiatric Evaluation, History & Physical (H&P), Initial Medical apt. with weekly follow ups when needed, Nutritional Assessment, Pain Assessment, TB Screen, Educational Learning Assessment, UA Drug Screens, and daily medication observation.
