What Is Luxury Rehab?

Though they may share a common goal—to assist people to learn to live without dependence on drugs or alcohol—not all addiction treatment facilities are created equal.

Luxury rehab centers differ greatly from the institutional, hospital-like settings of traditional programs. Many of these centers embrace a holistic approach to recovery, emphasizing the whole person and allowing the patient comfort and support in all areas as he or she works toward sobriety.

The ultimate goal: To offer treatment that is focused on recovery and adjusting to life after rehab in a way that will best suit their needs for comfort, privacy, and healing.

What Does a Luxury Rehab Offer?

A luxury rehab facility allows a person to receive treatment in the most comfortable setting. These inpatient centers often offer highly customized programs to meet the unique needs of each client. Some even allow the client to help design his or her own treatment program, which may include a variety of therapies, medications, and counseling.

Luxury rehabilitation centers also offer a heightened level of privacy, which many people may find important while undergoing addictions treatment. Counselor-to-patient ratios are often lower, and alternative approaches to treatment are typically the norm.

In addition, many luxury rehab centers provide care from detoxification through outpatient aftercare. This may include assessment, treatment planning, individual and/or group therapy, and more. An even greater number of luxury rehabilitation centers specialize in treating dual diagnosis.

What Does Luxury Rehab Look Like?

Of course, the most obvious difference between a traditional treatment center and a luxury rehabilitation center is the setting in which treatment is received. Most luxury rehabs are set against a beach or in the mountains. Individual accommodations are private and plentiful, and meals often include gourmet cuisine and may be all-organic.

Such treatment centers are also well-equipped, often including full gym facilities, swimming, massages, meditation, and yoga. Other treatments vary from center to center, but may include horseback riding or other animal-assisted therapy, access to electronics during treatment, Reiki, aromatherapy, and acupuncture. The emphasis is on the whole person, so recreation and relaxation are important components to successful recovery.

Cost of Luxury Rehab

The rates for luxury rehabilitation centers are typically higher than other treatment centers, especially if the center is known to cater to celebrities, politicians, or others who require an additional level of security. Insurance may cover some of the costs, but most won’t cover the costs of luxury amenities not considered essential.

Some facilities may offer long-term financing or payment plans, while others may accept credit card payments.
